Stuck!

I was on my out to work this morning, got in my car, turned the key, nothing... Engine trying to turn but didn't. Panic started to creep, nobody's home, phone calls to people and as I was talking to my boss, my cell phone died! Running back to the house, charging my phone, thinking, "what else can go wrong?" It sure is funny how life tells you to relax. I took the advice, forget the car, I'm relaxing! I gathered my stuff: laptop, a good book, a water bottle. Here in the backyard, our little oasis, birds chirping, gentle breeze blowing, and a nice sunny day. Being stuck, priceless!

A Year Older

My sister's puppy came home last year during Memorial Day weekend. She named her Ressie. She's everyone's puppy dog. With an "obedience class" certificate under her belt, she's on her way to getting her recording contract since she accompanies Fred to the Recording Studio almost everyday now for the last 5 months. However, i'll let you in on a little secret... I think she still needs to take the "obedience class" again! My sister said that she'll act like a puppy until she's two. We're celebrating her 1st birthday on Sunday. Happy Birthday Ressie Girl!!!!!

Took The Wrong Road

On my work today I took the 10 Freeway which was a big mistake. It was a parking lot!

As I was driving west, I couldn't help but see how the over pass bridges were vandalized by a lot of awful graffiti. My eyes just couldn't believe it. The last time I drove this way was probably a couple of months ago. How did it become so bad so fast?

I don't understand. How can anyone do such horrible destruction to infrastructures that hard working people pay for? On my way home, I stuck with a much pleasing scenery, the reliable side streets.

The Slump

Never in my wildest dream thought that California would reach the brink of bankruptcy. The legislators and the governor haven't agreed on how to solve the state's deficit. In the meantime, recession finally hit my family with a big blow. My mom received a third day of furlough last week, in short, a 15% pay cut for her. There's an impending pay cut for UC employees, that would include me, and one of my sisters will be laid off next week. Life sure can throw a curve ball when you least expect it!

Summer Is Finally Here

No more "June Gloom," just flip-flops, shorts, tank tops, smell of sunscreen, 94 degrees, bathing suits, family get together, barbecues, are just a few signs that summer is finally here in Southern California. How does my family welcome the promise of a lazy, hot, and fun and our favorite time of the year? Mahjong games until we drop! Finally, introducing a new player of our favorite game, Hayden, my 6 year old niece. A family tradition lives on....

Welcome Sunny

Sunny's baptism was yesterday. He was wearing a cute white outfit and a playful smile for the occasion. It was a solemn ceremony without fuzz, or a piercing cry when the water was poured on his head. Boy, sixth godchild and counting, whew! It sure is a nice yardstick of age. Let me see, Frederick, Roxanna, Hayden, Nathan, AJ, and Sunny. Welcome Sunny to our Faith!
